Are those Broadside batteries or broadside mounted turrets batteries on the side?

They are recessed cannon turrets firing laterally. They each have limited arc of fire so cannot fire forwards, backwards, up or down. Broadsides are meant to pummel the shields of an opponent until they shatter and then smash the enemy's hull. No finesse, just brute force.

Sometimes brute force is the only option and it would hurt like a bitch if several of these girl were to 'Cross the T' of a much larger ship that had limited forward weapons capablity.

Or round the stern of the opponent and blast out its drives to disable it before swinging around to slice it in two with a salvo from the main gun.

Or box em in and pummel the shit out of them from multiple angles.

That is one of the best heavy ships I have seen in ages.

What medium you use?

A wonderful design and well worked out traditionally. Did you use pantone markers?

Mad being a good thing? Sorry, but I am an old fogey. If it indeed means good, then thanks very much. If it means insane, then let me assure you that I am taking my medication.

It looks like it's meant for broadsides... if the openings on the side are what I think they are...

Yep. It has a main "ram" gun running the length of the hull, which is its primary weapon, and broadside arrays for "up close 'n personal" use against other capital ships.

This picture was found in random, but after checking the whole gallery I have to say that all of them are very good looking. What was the inspiration?

Thanks for the compliment. As for inspiration; a combination of sci-fi movies I've seen, work by "real", professional concept artists and the old imagination.

Well, I must disagree with this one... more star-wars like... or some prototype of Vaygr light cruiser (Homeworld)? Anyway: Great work!
