Thirgen Cavship by Orpheus7 Thirgen Cavship by Orpheus7
Thirgen (Third Generation) ships are divided into separate units instead of the entire ship being encapsulated in a single hull. The ship is held together by powerful electromagnetic force generators which not only permit damaged or malfunctioning elements to be quickly and easily replaced but more importantly allow the ship to be realigned according to the situation it is in.

This Cavship (Cavalry Ship) is typical of thirgen designs, orientated around the chariot (cockpit) which is flanked by weapon pods (that can be moved along any axis; together or independently). Behind it is the spider (generator) and the drive ring that propels the vessel.

Impressive. Love the design.

Sounds like quite an interesting concept, I do like the ability to adapt its shape/form to fit various situations

very creative and more importantly CONSISTENT Design basis for all your ships in a single universe based principle, it is much appreciated to have you as an inspiration.

This is quite interesting design and idea. This electromagnetic force generators must be very reliable. Otherwise ship would have just crumbled.

Damage the magnetic array and the whole ship comes apart. One good EMP blast should do it. Not very combat capable. Do not whant to ride in one. Easy take down.

I think they would have worked out how to guard against crude EMP blasts by the time they can develop technology like this.

I am talking about a directed EMP blast like a Anti-tank missile fire. It is not crude but missile delivered. Nasty and precise. Trust me not pleasent. Pilot would watch his/her ship come apart under him. Not pretty.

Well, in "my" future, EMP weapons would be pretty much obsolete. Hope that puts that one to rest.

An emp would destroy it because it has no shielding. I would advise some sort of energy shield. And furthermore if this design is standard than counter measures would be as well. Solar flares would be particularly dangerous.

You win. However it will be good to see a heavy weapons package add on to the fighter, also a recon version and a civilian version for racing.
