Ye Olde Fighter by Orpheus7 Ye Olde Fighter by Orpheus7
A rough sketch of an older generation fighter - perhaps X-wing inspired, I know. Just an idea I had to throw down on paper to get out of my head.

Make the specs for a corvette or a patrol craft. Better the patrol craft and you got a winner.

I can try harder and harder but your ships are still far better. As I said somewhere before I prefer guns for normal ammunition but your's are very special and higly detailed. Like the rest of this fighter. Is it AI controlled unit? I don't see any cockpit.

Hi and thanks for the comment. There is a cockpit but it is armoured and recessed. The pilot would most probably view his surroundings through cameras or something.

So I am concluding this is heavy interceptor class. But I am affraid that connections between chassis aren't very strong. Is this jet kind of badass or maybe "shoot and flee ASAP"? I'm asking questions like that because i see somebody who knows the point.

Probably a hit and run ship - it is quite big, so not good as a dogfighter.

Really cool design man, although I agree with the previous commenter, it would work batter as a bomber.

Awesome work! : D
This round design brings the thoughts to the Homeworld universe.

Comment on the design itself:

The limited view angle would make it an ineffective anti-fighter craft.

Instead it could work as a heavy bomber. With it's heavy armor it could ignore other fighters and head straight for a capital ship, release it's payload and then retreat, either for reload or another run.

Thanks a lot for the comment and the input. I imagine that it would be a better heavy attack ship rather than a dogfighter.

Hmmm. I think it works more as a larger-scale ship. Carrier type thing. But then the weapons on the wings would be pretty useless stationary.... Maybe they could be more flexible, like on hinges allowing them to go further and closer to the main ships body? And maybe not in the same position.... like on a track, so they can independantly move forwards and backwards to allow near 360 revolution without hitting eachother?
Sorry. I look at a simple and nice drawing like this and my mind goes into tech specs. It's still really cool.

Thanks for the comment. Yep, t could work as a larger ship as well without the wing guns. Thanks for the input.

Nice fighter design; looks rather complex!

One question though, where does the pilot sit; is it computer controlled?

Thanks. The cockpit would be the little "blue" window near the back. It is armoured and would permit a view ahead only. Not very practical, I know, but just an idea as I said.

Thank you. The cockpit is the little blue window near the back of the body. It only allows a forward view which is a bit limiting, but then it's just a concept.

i am sure in the future there would be cameras providing view and no windows would be necessary anyway
