Dragoon Lancer

The Dragoon lancer class single-seat fighter was developed as a multi-role attack fighter for many of the large corporate and royal battle fleets as well as orbital resource stations. Ideal in both offensive and defensive capabilities, the Dragoon boasts a single ram ballista that dominates the ship's frame and is capable of penetrating the shielding and even (sometimes) the armour of larger warships under ideal conditions - at intermediate to close ranges. Although powerful, the ram gun has a long recharge cycle, with pilots having to save up a charge for up to a minute before firing. It is also armed with either two or four fixed medium tactical cannons and four gimballed fast-firing CIWS rap guns as well as twin missile launchers with four seeker rounds each. It is well shielded with two bucklers and an omni shield, while also being fitted with high grade battle armour.
Although the Dragoon is usually deployed from larger carriers, it is fully capable of undertaking inter-planetary and moderate depth deep space missions and often escorts patrol fleets in frontier systems.
